Liberty Racing once again successful at Iffezheim, acquires six colts for the 2026 syndicates Platinum and Gold.
It was our team’s sixth BBAG Yearling Sale — and it was a sale like no other before it, certainly not one for the faint-hearted.
By the time Lot 100 entered the ring at Iffezheim, Liberty Racing had managed to secure just one horse for the 2026 syndicates — not exactly the strike rate we had hoped for with around 220 potential candidates in the catalogue. But our team on the ground, led by Lars-Wilhelm Baumgarten, kept their nerve, and by the end of the day there were plenty of happy faces after all. The hammer came down in our favour six times.
Relatively early in the sale, Baumgarten raised his hand successfully and secured LOT 41 for €70,000 — a colt who already seems to have blue and gold written into his coat. He was bred by Count and Countess Stauffenberg, who also bred our Derby winner FANTASTIC MOON. Like FANTASTIC MOON, LOT 41 descends from the internationally successful dam line of Fraulein Tobin. Sire is the tough Adlerflug son IQUITOS.
Also knocked down for €70,000 was LOT 159, a colt by CRACKSMAN bred by Gestüt Görlsdorf. He is the second foal out of Listed winner Mercedes and comes from the highly successful family of Montserrat, which has also produced champions Moonshiner and Monami as well as Oaks d’Italia winner Meridiana. The same family is represented by LOT 197, a SEA THE MOON colt out of a sister to Schwarzgold winner Meerjungfrau, who joined the Liberty ranks for €36,000.
These three colts were purchased for LIBERTY RACING 2026 GOLD. Completing the syndicate is LOT 185, a colt by Arc winner WALDGEIST from an internationally successful family. The Spencer Sales offering cost €36,000; the same consignors offered our 2026 Derby runner-up CHIEFLAND at this very sale two years ago.
For LIBERTY RACING 2026 PLATIN, we were able to secure two exciting colts.
The hammer came down at €150,000 for LOT 158, a son of SEA THE STARS out of a sister to champion miler MILLOWITSCH, herself Group-placed and a Listed winner. The chestnut colt, bred by Alexandra Margarete Renz, had been high on our shortlist and is the first offspring of the great SEA THE STARS we have ever been able to purchase.
He will be joined by Nadine Siepmann’s favourite, LOT 167, offered by Westerberg Consignment. He is a son of Darley’s TOO DARN HOT, who is already breaking records as a young sire. His dam is a Group-placed full sister to Gr.2 winner Tusked Wings and comes from the highly successful Turbaine family, which has produced Arc winner and multiple champion TORQUATOR TASSO, champion sire TERTULLIAN and champion three-year-old TÜNNES.
With that, LIBERTY RACING 2026 GOLD is complete and the syndicate is now closed.
Depending on prices, another one or two horses will be purchased for LIBERTY RACING 2026 PLATIN at international sales. Shares are still available! So if you would like to join us on the adventure of chasing the Derby dream in 2028, we would love to hear from you!
If you are interested, please contact Nadine Siepmann.
Following the fantastic result in this year’s Derby — with CHIEFLAND, SALITOS and KAIROS finishing second, third and fourth — we feel greatly encouraged and are delighted with the outcome of this sale, where we were once again able to secure a very promising group of young prospects.
There is no question:
THE DERBY DREAM LIVES ON 💙💛
