142nd German St. Leger (Gr.3) – KAIROS finishes excellent third in stayer classic

The six-week break following the German Derby has clearly done him good, as KAIROS made an excellent impression today in Dortmund and appeared relaxed and wide awake ahead of the final classic race of the 2026 turf season. The Zarak colt, racing for Liberty Racing 2024 Platinum, lined up in the 142nd edition of the German St. Leger at Gr.3 level with Leon Wolff in the saddle, where he faced the country’s elite stayers – led by Lordano from Ittlingen, who was, of course, the horse to beat. Although he was not in contention for the win, Henk Grewe’s protégé ran an very solid race against the older, seasoned Group-class horses and demonstrated that the 2,800-metre distance certainly suits him. KAIROS is now expected to go under the hammer at the Arc Sale on 3 October, on the eve of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in Deauville.
