Liberty Racing 2024 Gold celebrates a successful Arc Sale on the eve of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Deauville.
The shareholders of Liberty Racing 2024 Gold celebrated an outstanding result at the Arc Sale yesterday in Deauvill – on the eve of Europe’s most important race, the Gr. 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The syndicate’s two stars, CHIEFLAND and SALITOS, generated excellent prices and are both heading abroad – in very different directions.
CHIEFLAND, the Derby runner-up, who was rather unlucky finishing fourth in the Gr. 2 Prix Niel after a very strong performance, was sold for €640,000 and will continue his career in Saudi Arabia. The Study of Man colt was purchased by the Saudi Najd Stud, owned by Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz. The relatively new stud has repeatedly shown interest in German horses. Australian buyers, who had their sights set on CHIEFLAND for the Melbourne Cup, lost out in the bidding for the colt, who was bred in Ireland.
Shortly before that, SALITOS, a son of In Swoop who finished third in both the Gr.1 German Derby and the Gr.2 Derby Italiano, was sold to Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien in a thrilling bidding war. O’Brien had to pay €700,000 for the colt bred by Klaus Schöler.
Liberty Racing 2024 Gold can thus celebrate a fantastic result from its two years as a syndicate. Second and third place in the German Derby (the dream Liberty Racing works toward every year) and a successful Arc Sale!
