SALITOS fuels hopes for 2026 classic season in Liberty Racing 2024 Gold with confident win over 2,200 metres at Fontainebleau.
Horse expert Wilhelm Feldmann recently named him as his hot tip for this year's German Derby in an interview with Galopponline, and the three-year-old son of In Swoop showed today at Fontainebleau/France that this assessment is not without reason. Piloted by Leon Wolff, Peter Schiergen's protégé ran a very strong race in the Prix des Grands Cerfs, an allowance race over 2,200 metres. Stalking the lead from the start, SALITOS first had to find a passage in the home stretch, and when it opened up, the race was virtually decided within one furlong. The style in which the colt pulled away by two and a half lengths in the last furlong was more than impressive.
Already a second-place finisher as a two-year-old, SALITOS scored his maiden victory in impressive fashion, allowing his owners at Liberty Racing 2024 Gold to dream of bigger wins to come. Today's victory is also a wonderful birthday present for Liberty Racing co-founder Nadine Siepmann.
Liberty Racing couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2026 season. The Derby dream lives on again this year – more than ever!
