The dream of winning the German Derby inspired Lars-Wilhelm Baumgarten and Nadine Siepmann to found Liberty Racing six years ago. It has been the driving force behind every syndicate created since.

After ASSISTENT finished fourth in the 2022 German Derby, FANTASTIC MOON (2023) and PALLADIUM (2024) went on to fulfil that dream—not only for the founders, but above all for the many shareholders who shared these unforgettable victories and created memories that will last a lifetime.

That was always the vision.

The Derby as the ultimate goal. Creating unforgettable moments—not for one or two people, but for an entire community.

When the starting gates open for the 157th IDEE German Derby at Hamburg-Horn tomorrow, the shareholders of both Liberty Racing syndicates launched in 2024 will once again be cheering on their horses.

That alone is a remarkable achievement. Since Liberty Racing was founded, the blue and gold colours have been represented in the German Derby every single year. But the fact that both the Platinum Syndicate and the Gold Syndicate will each have two runners in Sunday's Derby marks a truly memorable milestone in Liberty Racing's history.

Who would have imagined that, from the seven colts we purchased at the yearling sales in late summer 2024, four would go on to qualify for Germany's most prestigious race?

Behind every Derby runner lies countless decisions, patience, trust and the dedication of many people. Weeks—and often months—are spent weighing every decision, balancing the welfare of the horse, responsibility towards both horse and people, tactical planning, and the long-term development of each individual.

From purchasing a yearling to its racecourse debut and ultimately reaching the German Derby is a long journey—one that only very few horses successfully complete.

To have travelled that journey with four horses this year is not only incredibly exciting, but already an exceptional achievement in its own right—not only by German standards, but internationally as well.

Whatever happens tomorrow ...

Of course, everyone dreams of winning the Derby.

But regardless of the outcome, we already look ahead to the highlight of the season with immense pride.

When our four colts enter the starting gates tomorrow, we will celebrate this remarkable moment together—with our shareholders, trainers, jockeys, staff, partners and all friends of Liberty Racing.

We are grateful and humbled, knowing that success is always a gift—and that the Derby has a way of writing its own story.

And who knows...

Some chapters are only recognised as history in hindsight. Perhaps, on Sunday, we will write one of them.
