Visitation at Ohlerweiherhof Stud for 2026 Syndicates Platinum and Gold

This year’s auction tour was almost even more exciting than usual, and no sooner had we recovered from it, it was time for the next event: In crisp, autumnal weather, the shareholders of this year’s syndicates met yesterday at the Ohlerweiherhof stud farm to visit the eight colts on whom hopes for the 2028 Derby rest. Unfortunately, the group was a bit smaller than usual this time, as flu season seems to be in full swing. It was all the more wonderful, then, that trainer Peter Schiergen and his wife Gisela found time to join us despite the Group race day in Cologne.

We were welcomed with coffee, cake, and snacks—as always, wonderfully (and deliciously!) organized by the Volz family—after which the presentation of the horses began. Liberty co-founder Nadine Siepmann introduced the horses by pedigree; Wilhelm Feldmann shared a few of his personal thoughts on each hcolts; and Nastasja Volz-Degel explained the pre-training program and gave those present a preview of what the horses can expect in the coming months. All eight boys were in excellent condition and marched through the arena like pros, which was met with great approval by everyone.

Afterward, the group took a short detour outside to see the two-year-old GREY DIAMOND (Liberty Racing 2025 Gold) and the three-year-old WINNETOU (Liberty Racing 2024 Gold). Both colts made a great impression and shone brightly in the autumn sun. Afterward, they headed to the yearling barn, where all the horses were generously fed carrots and apples and received plenty of petting. As it is tradition now every year, the group wrapped up the lovely afternoon with a dinner together to keep the eight promising prospects for the next two years—and the dream of the 2028 Derby—alive.

It’s days and moments like these that make Liberty Racing special… and perhaps have also played a part in helping the team led by founders Lars-Wilhelm Baumgarten and Nadine Siepmann achieve extraordinary success in just six years. The latest roll-up banner adorning the hall served as a reminder of this. Featured on it: Chiefland, Salitos, and Kairos at the 2026 Derby. It’s worth pinching yourself every now and then to remember what it means to have placed second, third, and fourth in this race after two previous victories!

This day made it clear once again: The 2028 Derby dream is very much alive.
