It was a great battle right up to the wire, and in the end it was only a head that relegated ZAUBERKÖNIG to second place after 2,400 metres. The three-year-old Teofilo colt put in a very strong performance under Andrasch Starke in the €52,000 Preis der BBAG Jährlings-Auktion, pushing the winner, the Derby fourth Enzian, to the limit. Starke had positioned the colt, who is prepared by Peter Schiergen for Liberty Racing 2023 Kings, close to the leaders from the start and called him to action early in the final turn. In a thrilling finish, ZAUBERKÖNIG sold himself extremely well and, once again, showed flashes of his full potential.
